I am almost sure that all of us have had those moments where we ponder about the past and wonder how the f!ck time flies so damn quick. I know I never really realize it in the midst of everything going on and I am sure you all have this problem too, but when I am by myself and I start to really think about things, it is almost mind boggling to me how time seems to escape from us. I mean, think about this. In the middle of everything going on, whether you are awaiting the day you turn 16 so you can finally feel what freedom is like or whether you are counting down the days until graduation or Christmas, it feels like time could not creep any slower, right?! But… think about this. The first episode of Hannah Montana premiered 9 years ago and the last episode aired 4 years ago. Mean Girls released a decade ago. Think about how all the vacations, birthdays and holiday breaks you so desperately were counting down to, have come and went. It is absolutely insane to think about all the time that passes within the blink of an eye and how we don’t even notice it. All the things that happen within a week...within a month…within a year. It is crazy.
Today, as I gathered all of my hard work together to head off to Chicago tomorrow, I could not help but start to think of all the things I have experienced within this past year. Almost a year ago now, I started emerging myself into the world of modeling (as well as plenty of other things, too!). There are a number of reasons why I have fallen in love with the craft, but I will have to save that list for another post (because it DOES deserve its own post).
While gathering all my photo's together and being forced to choose only 6-8 AMAZING ones for my portfolio to showcase to agencies, I could not help but think of all the photographers, hairstylists, makeup artists and designers I have gotten the opportunity to meet as well as work with within the past year (as well as all the hours I spent brainstorming and collaborating! Sheesh!) The amazing and unique relationships I was able to build with others because of this journey I have chosen to take myself on, is probably one of my most favorite things about this past year. It was amazing going into a shoot knowing we all had one thing in common: We wanted to create something mind blowing. We were there creating something out of nothing. The fact that I finally feel prepared, as well as confident, to step into the big agencies in Chicago and show them what I’ve got, is intimidating but also SO satisfying. I have learned so much from this past year and I cannot wait to put my skills to the test. I am READY, Chicago!
