Right now, I choose you. I choose all my no dress coder’s out there. YOU are what I want to focus on. Whether you knew from the moment you got on this site that you were a No Dress Coder at heart, or if you are still confused about whether or not becoming a daring No Dress Coder is the right move for you (Which it is. For everyone.), I am choosing to focus in on YOU.
I went and saw an amazing thing on Saturday night. Here, in Columbus, Ohio, we really aren’t the hardcore farmers people out of state seem to envision. Recently, Columbus’ art district has been blossoming into something larger than I think most would have ever expected. To celebrate the true beauty of art in all of its wonderful forms, the Short North arena district dedicates every first Satuday of each month to a little shindig called “Gallery Hop”. After experiencing it, I can actually say it was not little at all. It was quite big. Hard to come by even one empty parking spot, hundreds of people swarming in every direction, and local talent set up on every corner. Although my plan was to stop people I saw that stuck out to me and ask them some questions while photographing what they were wearing with my awesome new camera, after we finally found a parking spot, I ended up only being able to spend only an hour at the actual Gallery Hop. So, instead, I decided to just photograph my hour at Gallery Hop, although I do promise that sometime soon I plan on going back and documenting the amazing people that show up at this extravaganza.
The streets were filled with talented individuals sharing their gifts with the crowd. Thankfully, I was able to get photographs of some that I stopped and admired. The photos will of course be posted below!
You see, being a No Dress Coder is all about expressing yourself through any forms of art you choose to share with the world. Whether it’s your passion for fashion, your talents or your unique traits, it is about finding out who you are and being true to whoever you found on your search for yourself. Also, it is about sharing who you found with the world. Gallery Hop had me smiling from ear to ear. It was a perfect example of what No Dress Code is all about. Every which way I looked I saw a musician, a singer, painters, sketchers, wardrobe dare devilers; all artists in their own unique ways. Yes, becoming a “No Dress Coder” does allow you to become vulnerable. Any artist that shares their talents with the world puts themselves out there knowing they will be judged and corrected; but a true No Dress Coder ignores the guarded, the cynics, the non-believers to reach the extraordinaire’s out there that need that certain push allowing them to realize it is okay to be yourself- and that it is actually amazing.
