Contrary to popular belief, glasses do not always have to have the negative connotations of “dorky” or “nerdy” lurking behind them. If styled properly, I’ve found they can actually be quite sexy, sophisticated and alluring!
A few weeks ago for graduation, I was gifted the awesome long term present of Lasik by my mother and grandparents. Psyched, I wanted to do absolutely everything right so the procedure would be as smooth as possible. Unknowingly at the time, this meant “Hello, Glasses!”
I was warned by my mother and the doctor too, that it was in my absolute best interest if I kept my contacts out two weeks prior to having the procedure done. Immediately I think, “Wait…no contacts? YOU MEAN…You mean I have to wear my GLASSES!?! BUT!?!?!?” But nothing. I soon realized there was no other option. Whether I liked it or not, glasses were going to have to become my must have accessory for the next few weeks. So, instead of becoming a hermit crab for the next two weeks, I decided I would make the most of this pre-lasik adventure and style my outfits around the glasses when I wanted to go out. This became…interesting and funny, but fun nonetheless. Not saying I’d want to wear my glasses every day, trust me…absolutely not! But…instead of having the hatred I did before against them, now it is kind of a “love hate relationship”, if you know what I mean? Because honestly, some of the days I felt pretty darn cute!
Below, I will have a gallery of days I was “feelin’ myself” in my glasses! Whether there mirror pics, or taken with an actual camera, you will be able to see how I styled myself and I will caption it with where I was going and what I was doing!
By the way, the procedure went great! Not big complications as of yet. I am feeling very blessed! I mean, it was definitely scary. It looked like I was in an alien movie and I had just gotten captured by them. BUT, I couldn’t feel anything! So, what more could I have really asked for?! (Yes, they did NOT knock me out. I was awake for the whole thing. I guess I am kind of a champ!)
