Something really, really cool happened to me the other day that I can’t help but share with you guys.
Friday night, my boyfriend and I decided we wanted spend the evening at our high school, cheering on the football team. I went expecting to share a cozy night with my boyfriend, and it was a cozy night indeed…but much more ended up coming out of the night than I could have ever expected.
On our way out of the game, there was a line of volleyball players and cheerleaders selling boxes of Krispy Kreme Donuts for some fundraiser. Not even thinking twice about it, I walked through the crowd with my boyfriend, his mom and dad, trying to make our way to the parking lot. Out of nowhere, I heard a voice from the left of me call out, “OH MY GOD! Baylie! You are such an inspiration! I love your page!”
At first, I was caught off guard, trying to find a familiar face in the crowd to connect the unfamiliar voice to. When I figured out who was shouting, to my surprise, it was not a familiar face at all. Immediately, I was shocked. Of course, I felt overjoyed. But I think more of me walked away completely… and utterly…shocked.
Regardless, I could not stop bashfully smiling.
I had never seen this girl before. Never heard of her. Didn’t even know her name. But…she knew me.
Not only did she know me and my name, but I had impacted her. I had impacted somebody that I didn’t even know existed. That I had no idea was spending their time reading my blogs or searching through my posts, or at all caring about what I was doing, whom I was with, or what I was preaching
.
It is absolutely mind blowing to me, but it is so true, you never know who you are influencing. You never know who is watching, who is admiring, who you are affecting.
I write for myself. I also write to inspire.
It is indescribable how it feels to know I am actually making a difference.
It is working.
